Veterans Day 2014

Millions of patriotic US citizens will gather on 11 November to honor the brave soldiers who served our country and protected our freedom.

Initially known as Armistice Day, the day was chosen to observe the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, as it marked the armistice of World War I.  Armistice Day later became Veterans Day in 1954 to not only honor those who served in WWI, but all veterans.

In addition to special events, military exhibits, tributes, ceremonies and parades, veterans will be spoiled by a variety of free services, such as car washes and haircuts.  They will also be treated to free meals, drinks and desserts at certain food outlets as a thank you for protecting our freedom.

If you’re a veteran, this is your day. We salute you.
